Ein fiktives Buch aus dem amerikanischen Film American Pie drängt in die Sphären der Realität: Eine stets wachsende Sammlung an Erfahrungen, Tipps und Eindrücken in Sachen Liebe und Sexualität. Im Spielfilm kursiert die Bibel an einer Highschool, zu diesem Buchprojekt luden M+M über fünfzig ausgewählte Künstlerinnen und Künstler ein, persönliche Erlebnisse, raffinierte Techniken und Fantasien zu offenbaren, die in die geheimen Domänen der Welt sinnlicher Lust oder erotischer Abgründe in Texten, Collagen, Zeichnungen, Fotos oder in handschriftlichen Kommentaren führen.

Presentation of "Pie Bible" by M+M at the Frankfurter Buchmesse, Stand of Verlag für moderne Kunst Nürnberg

With the “Pie Bible” the artistic duo M+M turns a fictitious book from the US movie “American Pie” into reality: a continually growing collection of experiences, tips and impressions with regard to love and sexuality. In the movie the book circulates at a high school. It is passed on from year to year to one selected, “worthy” pupil, who can add his own entry to it.

For the “Pie Bible” M+M asked selected artists to reveal personal experiences, ingenious techniques and fantasies that lead to secret areas of the world of sensual lust and erotic abysses, because according to society’s general impression, artists are regarded as experts when it comes to en sexual experiences and initiation rites. The idea was to approach the subject as directly as possible, as in a letter to a close friend. The entries published range from texts to collages, drawings and photos with hand-written commentaries. The, in part, extremely intimate entries are not allocated directly to a specific artist. Only at the end of the book can they be encrypted by means of a concealed list. This erotic compendium is printed in what is almost facsimile style.
